How GST is calculated
To add GST to a base price, multiply the amount by the GST rate: GST = Amount × Rate ÷ 100. To remove GST from a price that already includes it, the base amount = Price ÷ (1 + Rate ÷ 100). This calculator does both and shows the CGST/SGST split (each half of the total GST) for intra-state supply.
India's common GST slabs are 5%, 12%, 18% and 28%. Most services fall under 18%, while essentials are taxed lower and luxury goods higher. You can also enter a custom rate for special cases like 0.25% or 3%.
